ACTIVITIES

| Well Permitting |
The District requires permits for all new wells capable of producing more than 25,000 gpd. |
| Well Construction Standards | Same as the Texas Water Well Driller's Standards. |
| Well Spacing | The District requires that all new wells must be at least 400' from an adjoining land owner and no more than 4 wells may be drilled per section. |
| Production Regulations | Total permitted production within the District shall not exceed 19,223 acre-feet in the Edwards-Trinity Aquifer and 34,360 acre-feet in the Hickory Aquifer. |
| Water-Level Monitoring | The District will commence water-level monitoring in 2001. |
| Water Quality Testing and Monitoring |
Upon request the District draws water and contracts with another underground water conservation district to test chemical and bacteriological constituents of the samples at no cost to the well owners. If requested, samples will be submitted to State and/or EPA approved labs for analysis. |
| Water Quality/Quantity Management Programs | The District will initiate collection of baseline data in 2001. |
| Data Collection and Distribution |
The District will initiate a data collection program in 2001 and will share information with the TCEQ, TWDB, NRCS and the local extension service. |

PROGRAMS

| Public Education | The District will periodically publish articles in the local newspaper and will conduct an annual program in the county school to educate local youth on water conservation. |
| Special Activities | The District works with the Menard County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1 (surface water District) on educational programs and data collection for conjunctive use water conservation practices. |
| Cooperative Agreements |
The District has entered into a regional cooperative agreement with 9 other single districts of the West Texas Regional Groundwater Alliance. The purpose of the agreement is to exchange information, coordinate conservation activities and maximize beneficial use of local tax dollars within the districts. |
